The WWE Hall of Fame, Hulk Hogan, dies at 71

The two -time member of the WWE Hall of Fame and former World Champion Hulk Hogan, whose real name was Terry gene, died on Thursday at the age of 71, according to Clearwater, Florida, the Police and the worldwide wrestling entertainment.

“WWE saddens the member of the WWE Hall of Fame, Hulk Hogan, died,” said the company. “One of the most recognizable figures of pop culture, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends his condolences to the family, friends and fans of Hogan.”

The Clearwater Police Department and the Fire Department responded to a cardiac arrest call just before 10 in the morning and took Hogan to the Morton Plant hospital, where he was declared dead, police said.

Hogan began his professional wrestling career in 1977 and appeared prominently in World Wrestling Federation (now known as WWE), the wrestling of the world championship and the impact struggle, but it was his with the WWE in the 1980s that drove him already the company to the cultural Ceitgeist.

Hogan is widely accredited for helping to convert the professional struggle of a regional attraction to a conventional phenomenon in the 1980s. The first Wrestlemania led to an infamous confrontation in March 1985 between Bollea and actor Richard Belzer, who was organizing “hot properties.” Bollea and Mr. T were promoting their next fight and Bollea placed Belzer on a head key to show that wrestling was not false. Belzer fainted momentarily and was injured.

Belzer sued Hogan for injuries for the incident. The demand was resolved in 1990.

Hogan would appear in 10 Wrestlemania games and would appear in the main event eight times.

Hogan analyzed his wrestling appeal by becoming a cultural icon, appearing on television programs such as “Saturday Night Live”, “The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson” and the short -term “Thunder in Paradise” series, which co -struck his former friend and manager “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart. He also starred in films such as “Rocky III” and “Mr. Nanny”.

Hogan left WWE in the mid -90s and joined the rival promotion WCW. However, fans who once worshiped called Hulkamaniacs began to boo their heroic personality.

Hogan’s popularity drop was not limited only to sands. His image took a blow in 1994 when the federal government accused the WWE executive president, Vince McMahon, to give anabolic artists of illegal artists. Hogan testified that he took steroids, but denied doing so in the direction of McMahon. McMahon was finally acquitted.

Hogan was again in the news in 2012 when Gawker published a sexual film that involved Hogan’s then a friend’s wife. Hogan sued Invasion of Privacy and won a sentence of $ 140 million of a jury in June 2016. He settled with the company for $ 31 million.

Hogan was previously involved in another scandal when a 2007 recording made racist comments and said the word N was made public in 2015. Bollea was fired from the WWE and temporarily retired from the WWE Hall of Fame.

Hogan apologized for his use of insult, telling “Good Morning America” in 2015 who wanted the forgiveness of his fans.

“I am not racist, but I should never have said what I said. It was wrong. I am ashamed of that,” he said, but added: “People need to realize that inherited things in your environment. And where I grew up was South Tampa, Port Tampa, and it was a really hard neighborhood, very low income. And all my friends, we greet each other saying that word.”

It was included in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 for the first time as an individual artist and again in 2020 as a member of the NWO.

Despite his retirement, he continued his connection with the sport that made him famous. He was reinstalled by the WWE in 2018 and was host of WrestleMania 37 with the WWE Titus O’Neil superstar in 2021.

Hogan announced his commitment to Yoga Sky Daily instructor in July 2023 and the two married in September 2023.

He took the stage at the National Republican Convention in July 2024 to support President Donald Trump, a friend for a long time. He started his shirt famous and revealed a 2024 Trump Value T -shirt below.

“I know that man for more than 35 years, and has always been the biggest patriot, and still is,” said Hogan. “He has always told you exactly what I thought, and still does, brother. No matter the chances, always find a way to win.”

Hogan married three times, first with a beautiful bowling alley from 1993 to 2009. The former couple had two children, Brooke and Nick.

Hogan married Jennifer McDaniel in 2010, but requested divorce in October 2021 after 11 years of marriage.

Hogan is survived by his two children and his wife Sky Daily.
