The Mexican Navy sailboat crashes against the Brooklyn bridge, at least 19 injured: officials

A Mexican Navy sailboat with 277 people on board crashed into the Brooklyn bridge on Saturday night, hurting several people on board in a dramatic scene along the coast of New York City, according to the authorities.

The accident occurred at 8:30 pm, which resulted in at least 19 injured people, according to NYPD.

Four people were left with serious injuries, according to city officials, who gave a press conference on Saturday night.

All the injured were on the boat; No one fell into the water, according to the officials. The authorities said they did not believe that the bridge suffered any structural damage.

There are no deaths from now on, officials said.

The ship was disembarking and headed to Iceland, the authorities said.

The National Transportation Board is on the site and will begin its investigation, but the preliminary information shows that it was probably a mechanical problem with the sailboat, according to the officials.

The Brooklyn bridge had temporarily closed after the accident, but since then it has reopened, according to the New York City Transportation Department.

“While inspections will remain ongoing, there are no signs of structural damage to Brooklyn bridge,” Nydot said in a statement.
