Luna said the three victims were experts in their field that served 19, 22 and 33.

“These members, generally the average calls to which they go and deal with some very dangerous situations or articles, averaged around 1,100 per year. Therefore, these are not people who do not do this very often. They are fantastic experts, and unfortunately, I lost three of them today,” he said.

Luna seemed emotional when he said he spoke with two of the families of the three victims.

“As you can imagine, those were extremely challenging conversations,” he said.

The County Supervisor, Janice Hahn, in a statement, described it as “an extraordinarily painful day for the department of our Sheriff and for the county of the”.

An incident was reported in the Special Complex of the Sheriff Control Office of the Los Angeles County in East Los Angeles on July 18, 2025.

“My prayers are with the families of the deputies and their colleagues in the police who are recovering from this tragedy,” said Hahn. “I am offering my full support to our Sheriff Robert Luna and his department, since they not only work to support our deputies, but to investigate what went so bad. We need to reach the bottom of what happened and make sure that it never happens again.”

Fire investigators caused by the alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives office and the Los Angeles Fire Department are among those who respond, said Mayor Karen Bass.

The FBI is also on the scene, said Attorney General Pamela Bondi.

“Please, pray throughout the department of the Sheriff of the Los Angeles County,” Bondi wrote on social networks.
