11 people stabbed in Walmart in Traverse City, Michigan, in 'Brutal Law'

The authorities in Michigan say that a man entered a Walmart in Traverse City on Saturday afternoon armed with a folding knife and stabbed 11 people before being arrested by buyers and a deputy of the Sheriff.

The attack began to bend at 4:43 pm, said the Grand Sheriff’s Office Traverse in the statement published online.

The victims were being treated at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, with “many in serious or critical condition,” said the Sheriff’s office.

The suspect, who according to the authorities, was “acting alone”, has been identified only as a 42 -year -old man.

“A deputy of the Sheriff of Grand Traverse County was on the scene in a matter of minutes and arrested the man,” said the Sheriff’s office. “Citizens in Walmart also helped in the apprehension and treatment of victims.”

At a press conference on Saturday night, the Sheriff of Grand Traverse Michael Shea said the suspect was armed with a folding knife and that it seemed that the victims were chosen at random. “It seems that they were random acts,” he said. “It seems that the victims were not predetermined.”

He said the incident began to develop near the payment area.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer said in a statement about X that he was monitoring the situation.

“I am in contact with the police about the horrible news of Traverse City. Our thoughts are with the victims and the community staggering this brutal act of violence,” he said.

The FBI deputy director Dan Bongino, said in a statement on social networks that FBI staff was responding to the scene, “to provide any necessary support to the Sheriff’s office of the Grand County Sheriff Bring in his investigation of the attacks in Walmart.”

The State Police asked people to avoid the area as the investigation continues.

In a statement, a Walmart spokesman said: “Violence like this is unacceptable. Our thoughts are with those who were injured and we are grateful for the rapid action of lifeguards. We will continue working closely with the police during their investigation.”

Traverse City, a city of about 16,000 people, is located in northern Michigan, about 150 miles north of Grand Rapids.
